RUGS AND RUNNERS
The Röllakan collection features five unique rug designs, including two runners. The rug ‘Iris’ in the colors Petrol and Raspberry, and the rug ‘Hilma’ comes in the colors Fern, Marigold, and Meadow. Like traditional röllakan rugs, these rugs are handwoven, with a vertical warp of 100% cotton and a horizontal weft of 100% wool.
Swedish nature and folk art are reflected in the collection’s color palette with hues such as deep red, blue, light yellow, dark ochre, and forest green, combined with undyed white wool and black details. “We wanted to step away from pastels and felt a longing for more rich, intense colors. That’s what led us to Röllakan in the first place,” says Malin Glemme, Creative Director and CEO at LAYERED.
RÖLLAKAN - A TRADITIONAL SWEDISH WEAVING ART
The traditional Swedish Röllakan rug is a woven rug characterized by its geometric and stylized patterns, often inspired by plant and animal motifs from folk traditions. Originally, Röllakan rugs were woven at home by women as part of the farm’s own craftsmanship and are often inherited as family heirlooms. With the new Röllakan collection, LAYERED has revived these classic elements and given them a modern and harmonious expression.
