RUG SCHOOL

OUR RUGS

Choosing the perfect rug can be challenging, especially when you want it to seamlessly complement your home. That’s why we created our Rug School—complete with tips and sketches to guide you through everything you need to know before buying a new rug. Rugs do more than protect floors or add warmth—they’re statement pieces that can elevate any room.

LIVING ROOM

For a seating area, your rug should be at least 8 inches wider than the sofa. If the sofa is centered in the room, place all seating furniture on the rug. For sofas against a wall, the rug should extend under the front legs. When seated, your feet should rest on the rug, and side tables should have at least one leg on it.

DINING ROOM

Under the dining table, the rug should be large enough to keep the chairs on it, even when pulled back. This ensures comfort and balance when seated. Aim for about 27 inches of rug extending beyond the table’s edges for the best fit.

BEDROOM

When choosing a rug for the bedroom, it’s important to consider both function and aesthetics. The rug should cover a good portion of the floor. A rug in calm, neutral tones can create a relaxing and harmonious atmosphere, while a patterned rug can add more character and life to the room. The material is also key – a soft and comfortable surface, such as wool creates both comfort and warmth.

FABRICS

A rug is one of the largest decorative pieces in your home, and shour therefore reflect your personal style. To choose the right color and design, consider whether you want the rug to complement your current decor or create a bold contrast. Using complementary colors can help create a balanced look, while an expressive rug can add vibrancy to neutral interiors. Not sure which color is right? We offer rug samples for all our styles, so you can try and compare before making your decision.
